This is more of a design task, as this functionality should also apply to other animation views with this same feature.
Could you make a proposal for this and we can re-open this patch once that's been handled.
While I still think this shouldn't have been committed (UI team wasn't involved and it's introducing inconsistent behavior across editors), I've restored the functionality for now.
It was already discussed at great length in this this thread: https://devtalk.blender.org/t/the-video-sequence-editor-reworked-a-ready-to-patch-suggestion/3264
You may also find it interesting that using the word "Playhead" was discussed at great length here with the UI team. Both things which you removed or changed from the patch and committed unreviewed.
I have, on numerous occasions over the years addressed your questionable behaviour alienating contributors by brutally deleting, crippling or goose chasing their work. All of which is on full display here with this simple little patch.
I know you'll delete this comment the second after I post it, like you usually do, but that doesn't bother me much, as I have left Blender development and closed all of my patches, bug reports and stop my communication on what's going on with the Blender VSE developments on BA, Twitter, Facebook, RCS, my VSE support on Stackexchange and everywhere else, simply because I'll not waste anymore of my time on people like you.
Making sure Blender is consistent as an application is something we need to take into consideration.
We have conventions across multiple editors, when making some changes to one - we should consider if that change makes sense for all other editors, or, if the feature added is already possible in another editor, if we can follow the way it's implemented.
This should not be controversial, and requesting some extra though go into these decisions is not rejecting your contributions.
