(this is part of more work on the outliner, I've split this up in smaller pieces for review now...)

Diff Detail Event TimelineComment Actions The main purpose of the outliner is to arrange structure parent child hierarchy... The patches you've been submitting are assigning values - this can be OK in some cases, assigning a material to an object is useful of course... But having to write ~140+ line patch and define an operator for every new setting we want to be able to assign, isnt really sustainable. I'd rather see a more generalized way to setup links, so it can be ~3-6 line definition. defining an operator for every property isnt so good. Comment Actions I agree on the issue of having to write too much code for the pupose of assigning values (lets see if I can come up with something more compact). Just wanted to note though that current state of these patches dont really define a new operator for every new setting we want to be able to assign, Comment Actions abandoning this for the time being (might come back as some very generic operator based on RNA alone... if at all...) |
