Blender quickly slows down to grinding halt until hiding-unhiding blender window
Closed, ArchivedPublic

Description

System Information
Samsung Q330 with ram upgraded to 2x4 GB
Operating system: Linux lite
Graphics card: Nvidia 310M

Blender Version
Broken: 3.3.1; 3.4.0 alpha d1d2f002c7ca
Worked: 2.93.9

Short description of error
After opening any somewhat complex scene, blender slowly becomes more laggier, after a few minutes it becomes unusable, and slowing down the system in general. How quickly it slows down seems to depend on scene complexity (how many shaders, geometry, textures, etc are used). Attached is tree model from polyhaven, it causes lag in 2-3 minutes, simpler scene i worked on slowed down to unsuable in 7-10 minutes.
Hiding and unhiding resets lag, but it slows down again. After hiding, system lag stays for a few seconds, then clears up. I exported model from attached scene into fbx in 3.3.1 and imported into 2.93.9, 2.93.9 handled it without slowdown. Affected versions did not show significant usage of ram/cpu.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

Open attached scene, do something (switch tabs, add/delete shader nodes, or just wait), lag should come soon

Thanks for the report. I'm unable to confirm abrupt slowdown in uploaded file (checked in 3.4).
As far as I can tell, the hardware you've been using is not supported for blender 2.91 and following versions. Check Blender Requirements page
Check whether you've newer GPU drivers, that might improve the situation: https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/dev/troubleshooting/gpu/index.html
Check with factory settings: FileDefaultsLoad Factory Settings
