Short description of error
Vertex groups keep getting deleted after deselecting rigged geometry

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Select rigged geometry, rename geo and or object data, deselect geometry and vertex group is deleted

HI, thanks for the report. Please upload .blend file where this happens

To specify, it's after importing a rigged .fbx or .dae model, selecting a geometry, and deselecting by clicking an empty space in the 3D viewport.

Thanks for the file. I'm not able to repro this. Could you share screen recording to demonstrate what exact is happening?

Will close if factory reset has fixed the issue.
To further investigate the issue, can you disable add-on one by one to find the culprit? or was it some keymap changes causing the problem?


Edit: Just saw you deleted the comment. Does it mean you're still observing this issue?

That seems to have worked. Oddly enough, I brought back all of my startup preferences (expect for using the denoise node for compositing) and it works fine.
