Fullscreen doesn't work on a secondary monitor
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Fullscreen isn't working properly on a secondary monitor which has a lower resolution than the primary one. The whole interface is shifted down by a few pixels (not in sync with the mouse Y coordinates).
Also tested with same resolution on both monitors, though behaviour is the same.

Going back to windowed mode works though, as opposed to when I go fullscreen on my primary monitor.

Event Timeline

system specs:

Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Blender 2.50 Alpha 0 x64
ATI Radeon 3870 512 MB
4GB RAM

Works just fine here on:
32-bit Kubuntu 9.10 Karmic
Intel quad core
NVidia 8800 GT - Driver 185.18.36 from ubuntu repos
GCC 4.4.1
Blender 2.5 r27567

Need another tester on windows to check this.

It's working on windows with recent SVN. Micael can you test again?
NVidia GeForce 8800 here

Just tested again with build 27873 and it still has the same behaviour.
It seems that somehow the drawing if the interface is accounting for the window's borders. And to help me be sure of this, I just spotted a difference between going fullscreen before maximizing the window (has borders all around the window) and going fullscreen after maximizing (window only has titlebar).

Hello,

is the problem still there ? Dalai, what version of windows ?
any other with Windows 7 to test ?

it's possible that the problem is the windows policy for fullscreen with two monitor, I see the same problem with other programs.

Nathan, can you take a look at this ?

Thanks,

- Diego

Yeh, will look into it. I thought I had assigned this to myself (was going over these reports two days ago ;). Thanks for assiging to me.

Oh, and going fullscreen on other than primary display hasn't been implemented yet.

Hep, this went to the wrong bug report - but it still stands: going fullscreen on other than primary device hasn't been implemented (properly). Will look into it though.

Complementary note: Going fullscreen in the secondary monitor is working for me (Win 7 Pro). However if part of the Blender windows was in the other monitor when I change it to fullscreen, it doesn't clear itself (in order to clean it I have to drag other windows' panels over it.

I'm not sure it's related.

Indeed, fullscreen seems to be working now on both monitors. I don't see the redraw issue though.

Closing this report now. If you want to test with a recent, good blender build, please get the latest from my blog http://www.letworyinteractive.com/b

You can reopen the report if you find it's not fixed for you.

Nathan Letwory (jesterking) changed the task status from Unknown Status to Resolved.Sep 3 2010, 8:08 AM

actually only developers can "re-open" a report. So if someone find that the bug is still there just write back here and the report will be re-opened.
