Blender appending wrong directory loaction for world, and environment textures
Closed, ArchivedPublic

Description

Recent builds of Blender 2.5 trunk, up to r30349, lose the directory context of world and environment map textures. I have been creating and testing several world texture and environment map textures to simulate reflection for the book I’m writing. Occasionally, the blendfile loses the location of the texture file because Blender seems to be prefixing the location of the blendfile itself. So for instance the correct location for a HDR texture should be:-

C: \Users\colin\Desktop\Church_HarvestLobby\

Whereas it appears to look for the file at:-

C:\tmp\2.52\2.52\Users\colin\Desktop\Church_HarvestLobby\

I have seen the file name become even longer at one stage.

C:\tmp\2.52\2.52\2.52\2.52\2.52\2.52\2.52\Users\colin\Desktop\Church_HarvestLobby\

I compile my own versions using MinGW, that are also offered on Graphical.org

The attached blendfile demonstrates the problem if you load it and check the world texture location it will point to :-

C:\tmp\2.52\2.52\Users\colin\Desktop\Church_HarvestLobby\

The blendfile is in c:\temp\2.52 but the texture should be as shown above.

Event Timeline

Hi, Im not sure why this happens but we need to know when the path becomes incorrect to fix the bug.

Could you find the steps to make blender give an incorrect path?

tried to redo this bug but couldn't, could a windows dev try mingw?

not enough info, we need exact steps to redo the problem.
closing.
