After opening blender to the default cube scene and switching to the compositor (control-left-arrow) and clicking "use nodes" and (shift-a) to add a new node, add->input->image and then clicking on the 'open' drop down menu, blender crashes.
I am not attaching a .blend file because the .blend file is no different than the default scene when blender opens.
blender 2.53.0
r30593
OSX 10.6.4
2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro
Nvidia 9400M graphics card
I have downloaded a newer version r3600 from graphicall.org and it crashes exactly the same way.
I have tried rendering the default cube before going into the compositor, I have tried opening a previously created .blend file and then going into the compositor and adding an image input node and it crashes exactly the same way when you try to load the image into the input node with the default scene. It behaves exactly the same, so I don't think it has anything to do with any specific .blend file.
Thanks in advance. You guys are awesome. I love blender.

This is likely a crash trying to generate a preview for an image in the folder that the file browser opens in. We need the image that crashes to fix this. However there's already another bug report with attached images, so will close this one.
