Produce "Procedural LPM Buildings based on their real floor plans"

Description

Project: Blender Extensions
Tracker: Py Scripts Upload
Blender: 2.53
Category: Object
Python: 3.1
Homepage: No homepage for now
Script name: ArToKi Floor Maker
Wiki page: ?
Author(s): Thierry Maes
Status: Closed

The goal of floor maker is to create a floor in low poly, only by choosing internal and external shape of a "valid" 2d shape. By valid I mean well drawn, with some rules. The sample file contains what I call "Valid 2d shape".
It is actually a script that appears in the objects panel.

After floor maker, I will (try to) add a door maker and a window maker, based on the same concepts.

Hi, can you prepare a wiki page with a bit of a manual about how to
use this? It surely would help the review process :)

See
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:2.5/Py/Scripts/Guidelines/Addons

Thanks!

would be nice if you can make this an addon and upload a txt, instead of a blend :)

Ok I'll make this in the beginning 2011.
thanks for commenting!!

BTW there seems to be a lot of incompatibility with 2.55, I'm testing today with build 33866.and there are big problems with props.
I'll correct it too.

hi, any status updates on this script?

Hi,
no status update at the moment, I'm finishing a nutritive project.
There have been lots of (good) changes in python scripting since I wrote this script, I have to restart it, that was a known possibility because of the alpha state when I began.

What I can say although, is what the tool is in my mind at this state (I can be precise because I already coded those scripts for Max),
1. a tool that transforms a single two point line into a simple parametrable building (house maker)
2. a tool that transforms floor plans shapes into parametrable 3d floor (floor maker)
3. a LPM window maker for that kind of floors (window maker)
4. idem with doors

5. nothing common with the others, a 3d Energetic tool to estimate surfaces and insulation of buildings, (compatible with Belgian standards)

I can't wait to start coding but to do it well I must have time...
I think that in one month (or at worst in july-augustus) I wil get time to develop it

Hi,
Due to changes to the api including the merging of bmesh, several addons are outdated.
Please, if you are the author of an addon check your script with blender revision 44256 or newer.
That is builds made After blender 2.62 official release.
I would ask that updates be made to your addon before the Blender 2.63 release.
6-8 weeks away.
This allows time for the api to become more exposed & bmesh to stablize furthur.
If you need help, drop into irc freenode #blenderpython or #blendercoders & feel welcome to ask questions.
At the time of 2.63 release, scripts that are not repaired or in active developement will have their tracker page marked "Closed"
this will not affect your links to the tracker, similar to closing scripts in 2.49b, the page will be still availible & can be re-opened.

Thanks for your understanding & patience during these Exciting Times.
Brendon.

hi,
Currently I'm still unsure of the working state of this addon.
I'm closing this page for now. as part of 2.63 cleanup.
If you want to resubmit your addon please let me know & this page can be reopened easily.
I like your concepts for window generation.
Thanks for your addon & interest in Blender.
Brendon.
