2.5 Crash on window resize with dual monitors
Closed, ArchivedPublicKNOWN ISSUE

Description

On releasing the mouse after resizing the Blender window my system becomes unresponsive and requires a hard restart. Its 100% reproducible and only occurs when I have my second monitor plugged in. When just using the iMac monitor I can resize the Blender window with no problem.

I'm using 2.56.0 r34076. It does not appear to be reproducible in 2.49b r22966.

My system details are:

Thanks for reporting.
I think this is a duplicate of [#23561] which was closed

Blergh. Sorry I missed it.

After reading through it, it mentioned if the issue remained in 2.56 to reopen or create a new bug. Would it be better to add additional comments to that case or this one?

Also there was question about whether or not clicking the Zoom or Maximize button would exhibit the same behavior. I confirmed that clicking the Zoom button does cause the system to become unresponsive when the window will actually resize as a result.

So if the Blender window is already taking up an entire screen, clicking the Zoom button will not have any effect. However starting Blender in terminal with parameters --windows-geometry (e.g. blender --window-geometry 0 0 500 500) and then clicking the Zoom button does cause a crash.

Regarding questions of other OpenGL apps causing similar problems, no I have not seen this behavior in other 3D applications using OpenGL.

Moved from Blender 2.5 Bug Tracker to OpenGL errors

No this is a new issue:
http://projects.blender.org/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=25822&group_id=9&atid=231

Since OSX driver updated it crashes. Also reported for other programs...

We are powerless in this case, unfortunately none of our developers uses a similar system, so a bypass or a patch is not quickly being found.
Will move it to the opengl tracker too. We're on it, but we need a developer first...

This seems to be resolved for me some time after the OS X 10.6.7 update. I tried resizing the Blender window in 2.56.0 r34076 and 2.57.0 r36339M and no longer experience crashing.
