I am using Blender SVN 35323 on a Fedora 14 box.
I noticed that when I translate an object and confirm the operation that n the Operator Panel, there is an option called Confirm on Release that appears. Clicking this doesn't seem to achieve anything. Because if I click it and then right mouse button click on the cube and drag and then let go of the right mouse button the cube will continue to move and doesn't seem to get confirmed on release of the mouse button.
The confirm on release in the user preferences panel does seem to work as described though. I asked in IRC if anyone else could get the option in the Operator Panel to work, and Cubbies said he could, so it could be a issue specific to me or my Linux system.
Attached a system-info.txt file and a screenshot of the area I am talking about.
Apologies if I am misinterpreting what this option is supposed to do.

That option should not be in the redo panel even. It's an internal property only active on using a tool, not for redo-ing tools.
We currently don't have a way to flag this yet, is on the todo to get rid of it all.
Hm, looks like I did indeed misunderstand you... I thought you were talking about the option in user preferences.
That button in the Operator panel doesn't do anything for me, either.
The way I see it, this option shouldn't be there at all, as it's confusing/misleading.
Doesn't the operator panel only allow you to change the parameters of the last operator? But since you already had to confirm the release before the options appear, there is no way and no use to change the release method afterwards.
Maybe I am misinterpreting things as well, but this is my understanding of the Operator panel..
Marc: maybe you typed this response while I was posting mine? :)
So yes, that option is for internal operator use only, and should not be visible in UI.
Hi Ton, indeed I did. :)
When I submitted, the report had already been moved to todo, but I found no way to remove my comment.. sorry.
