This is a minor cosmetic issue, but the "presets" drop-down menu found to the left in User Preferences->Input has "presets" selected, regardless of what's actually selected. I'm assuming that this should default to "Blender" and update itself to whatever preset has been selected/saved.
Note that settings appear to change and are saved, but the drop-down menu doesn't reflect this when Blender is re-opened.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Start Blender
2. Go to User Preferences
3. Select a preset
4. "Save As Default"
5. Close Blender
6. Open Blender
7. Go to User Preferences
8. Note that settings have been changed, but the drop-down menu displays "presets" instead of the actual preset.
Expected/Good behaviour:
1. The drop-down menu should reflect what's currently selected.
2. If the user alters any parameters which the preset controls, then the preset name in the drop-down menu should change to "custom", or something similar. This is to make it more obvious that the user is no longer using a particular preset.

This is an issue with all presets in Blender. The menu doesn't mean "this is the current preset", but executes and applies a preset script.
After such execution you then can edit it how you like. The tooltip on the menu tells this as well. Your suggestion is valid, and a known issue for which we don't have a solution yet.
