select the default cube and enter editMode
press "U" and select "Unwrap"
split the "3D View" window and set the new window type to "UV/Image Editor"
In the "UV/Image Editor" window press "N" the check the "Smooth" button
then select and drag the line between "3d View" and "UV/Image Editor" to resize them
Notice the behavior of the "Black outline" of the edges
