checking the "smooth" option in "UV/Image Editor" makes the edge's outline behave strangely

Description

select the default cube and enter editMode
press "U" and select "Unwrap"
split the "3D View" window and set the new window type to "UV/Image Editor"
In the "UV/Image Editor" window press "N" the check the "Smooth" button
then select and drag the line between "3d View" and "UV/Image Editor" to resize them
Notice the behavior of the "Black outline" of the edges

I cant redo this, looks like its an opengl driver glitch.

nvidia-6800, arch linux, 64bit.
