Ubuntu-Linux 32-bit computer- doesn't display dropdown menus
Closed, ArchivedPublicKNOWN ISSUE

Description

I have Ubuntu on a x32 computer. I downloaded it from the "Linux x32-x86" section and loaded up Blender. Strangely no drop-down menus, layer buttons, 'outlinings', etc were there and it was very hard to find the buttons I needed, as you can see in the attached files (please note, the attached files are screenshots and not .blend files because the .blend files would load properly on a non-Ubuntu x32 computer).

PS I know my graphics card, RAM, etc are fine because Blender x32 works perfectly fine on Windows on the very same computer.

Sorry again for the lack of info, its Ubuntu 11.04 . I don't have the Unity desktop.

What graphics card is it and what driver you are using (open source one, official one from manufacturer) and do you have any desktop effects enabled? Like Compiz.

I have no desktop effects turned on, besides a wallpaper. Not sure about my graphics card or its driver but they both worked fine for 2.49b, but for some reason not 2.58a.

PS dont forsake this bug because i will not reply for a week do to being on vacation.

Moved from Blender 2.5 Bug Tracker to OpenGL errors

We have plenty of linux users testing and using blender all the time. There's not simply "a bug" here, only the requirement to get a decent working opengl system.

It is possible your graphics system doesn't support Blender 2.5 "triple buffer". Just open user prefences -> system tab, and set draw method to other options.
Updating drivers might also work.
