Description

The latest version of blender is completely unusable on my machine. I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 (32bit) with an ATI Mobility Radeon 9000. Drivers are the latest in the Ubuntu repository. Blender 2.49b still appears correctly.

I have an old laptop with this exact some error, however I think its a driver bug since it used to work ok in older ubuntu versions (cant recall which one).

Will look into it, looks to be doubling up on each character.

Note that I checked with an old blender 2.55 and this still fails so quite sure its todo with the new opengl graphics driver.

Only to run blender-softwaregl, that uses opengl in software which is slow.

Its really not much we can do when drivers are buggy, best report to mesa.

I still get the same issues running blender-softwaregl. The text is still illegible. I'm not sure moving it to OpenGL was the right choice.
