Blender 2.60a crashes when assign a second material to any cyliner based mesh
Closed, ArchivedPublicKNOWN ISSUE

Description

windows 7 home 64bits, Blender 2.60a, NVIDIA GeForce GT 525 m

when a second material is assigned to a cylinder or cylinder-based mesh, blender crashes and the screen turns off (I had to restart my pc after all the tests). also, the loop cut doesn't work propertly on cylinder based meshes (it cut only one face).

I tried to assign a second material to a cylinder in Blender 2.58 (zip file) in the same computer, and it worked ok

Event Timeline

1) Assigning the material
I couldn't get blender to crash with this. - tried 3 times on 64bit linux, 2.60a release.

2) Loop cut issue
This is a limitation of current method used, the lower edge ring has 3 faces using the edge which makes loop cut fail. This isnt a bug, just something that'd be good to support.

there have been some bugs fixed with rendering recently, could you try with a recent build to see if its fixed?
- from http://www.graphicall.org or http://builder.blender.org/download

Tried to reproduce onboth of linux 64bit 2.60a release and windows 7 64bit 2.60a release.

Hi Edwin,

I am nearly certain that your system is causing you the problems. Please check this on another system with proper opengl support.
Will move this report to the opengl issue tracker.
