Closed, ArchivedPublicKNOWN ISSUE

Description

hi
im new to Blender, after installing Blender 2.60 i was trying to install the 'import to After Effects' add on,it requires opening Blender & selecting File>User Preferences, but as soon as i click User Preferences,Blender stops working.
I read a work around how to select User Preferences by selecting the far left button but i cant work out how to select 'Add Ons' from there, any help is appreciated, thanks

PS. let me know if i need to ask this following question seperately-how do i open .3ds files with Blender (file attached)
Windows 7 64 bit
Intel CoreDuo CPU T6600 @ 2.20GHZ
4GB RAM

Usually this issue presents with an Intel graphics card, with solution to upgrade the graphics drivers to the latest version (from the Intel website, laptop manufacturers or windows update often have older drivers).

The workaround is to replace e.g. the 3d viewport with user preferences, with the far left button in the header there.
