Non shadow casting objects cast shadows while using sun
Closed, ArchivedPublic

Description

Hi there!
For a scene i made a half-sphere as sky and disabled all shadow-casting options.
Using a sunlamp the sphere cast shadows.

Look at the file.
When you disable the half-sphere for rendering everything is well.

The file you provided produces an expected behavior.

Sun lamp only allows Ray shadowing. There is no material option for disabling ray shadows in the Shadow panel, so nothing you do there will affect shadowing cast by a sun lamp. "Cast" controls that can be disabled are "Cast Approximate" and "Cast Buffer Shadows", neither of which affects ray shadowing. To turn of ray shadowing for a material, disable "Traceable" instead in the "Options" panel. It hides the material from ray tracing entirely. No other way at the moment to do this.

Closing. Please re-open, and follow up if the above explanation does not fit your case.
