Description

Versions tried
Blender 2.63.20 - Fastest build (All CUDA kernels) by alb3530 - 2.63.20 r50733 (graphicall.org)
blender-2.63-r50707-win64.zip (build bot)
Blender-2.64rc1
Blender 2.63a official release

I have noticed with all the other revisions, rendering a video in blender vse takes longer than the official blender 2.63a release. Used settings in blend file provided to render out a 500 frame video. The video was just a imported image sequence of 500 png's.

Average time on my computer 2.63a official release was about 1 minutes. (Blender only uses 30% of CPU)
All other releases averaged about 3 minutes. (Blender uses about 80% of CPU so despite better use of CPU render takes longer.)

CPU- Intel Q6600 2.4GHz
Ram- 4GB
GPU- GTX460 1GB
OS- Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate
HDD- 1x 64GB ssd and 1x 7200rpm 1TB HDD

Event Timeline

After talking to a couple of people I know that use blender vse for editing. I was able to find out that the increased render time may be due to the new color management options. After setting the compute device under color management tab in the scene tab to none it lowers the render timing in half from about 3 minutes to about 1 minute and 30 sec on average.

This indeed is likely caused by color management. It indeed could be slower for float images (such as EXR), but in this particular case it's something strange.

Looking into this.

Made byte images and movie files be rendering the same fast as in previous release (commit rev50776). It works the same if Display Device is sRGB with Default view, no exposure/gamma/curves transform is applied.

In other cases export would be slower than in previous release and it's not so simple to improve.

Thanks for the report, closing it now.
