Render scale node no longer alters image size.
Closed, ArchivedPublic

Description

The behaviour of the scale node in the render compositor has changed from 2.63 to 2.64.

In 2.63 scaling would alter the image resolution and the size of its contents.
In 2.64 scaling only affects the contents of the image, the overall image resolution is unaffected.

Event Timeline

Image size is altered when mixing the image with other nodes. Eventually blender only outputs to the resolution that has been set in the render panel (Composite node).
If you attach a crop node or mix node you will see that all pixel information is still there. In the old compositor the scale node was disruptive (looses information), the new scale node isn't

It is not a bug, just a new way that resolutions and pixels are processed, making it possible to do canvas compositing.

Closing the report as not-a-bug.

Sergey Sharybin (sergey) changed the task status from Unknown Status to Archived.Oct 5 2012, 8:17 PM

Whether it is viewed as a bug or not it breaks compatibility with files from older blender versions... At least an option for preserving image resolution or also reducing image size would be nice!
