OS x kinetic scrolling bug
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I am pleased with the improvements on the multitouchtrackpad on OS x in blender 2.65.

The two finger gesture now moves the viewport (as alt+MMB I believe). If one moves the Viewport and takes the fingers of the Trackpad during the movement, Blender starts to zoom in. I think this is related to OS X kinetic scrolling (which I am unable to turn off). As a sidenote I think it would be great to have an option for kinetic zooming (by the pinch gesture) and kinetic turntable (by the rotation gesture).

OS X 10.8.2
rMBP 15"

Thank you

Looks like it could be the same issue as this report.

I've never been able to redo this bug on my laptop. Ton has a new retina macbook now though, maybe he can?

You are right, it might be related to this bug. The same behaviour has been described in the comment section, but I am not able to reproduce the original bug. (zooming while scrolling fast.)

Furthermore I wanted to add that (alt+ two finger gesture) now rotates the viewport. And when you lift of the fingers during the movement blender is scrolling through the frames.

Yes I have it too, it's very annoying! I wondered what it was already... this is code from others, need to dig a bit in it.

Fix got to svn! The code that was trying to allow users to work with multiple windows (mouse over works in all windows) wasn't retina-ready :)

Oops - I typed this in the wrong report, this issue i still have to tackle.

Fix is in svn now. Here's the log I typed for this:

Mac OS X trackpad and 'mighty mouse' fix.

An old commit from Damien in 2010 tried to make mighty mouse touches work as if
this is a scrollwheel. The error in that code was that the "kinetic scrolling"
feature failed. When releasing your fingers, the events passed on to Blender
then switched from "trackpad pan" to "mousewheel zoom".

This commit makes trackpads and mighty mouse behave identical. Only difference
is that trackpad panning needs 2 fingers, mighty mouse only one.

Note that trackpad and mighty mouse 3d zoom works with holding ctrl!

All works nice with this kinetic feature now. Fun :)
