Retina enabled Blender version + second Monitor on HDMI port
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

blender-2.65-r53689-OSX-10.6-x86_64, retina macbook pro

When I launch blender the window opens on the attached external monitor. When I move blender to the internal (retina) display it just takes 1/4th of the space and the rest of the area gets filled with random parts of "Preview.app" images/documents (I guess parts from the Framebuffer). A picture is attached below. (Btw the mouse is mapped as it should when it worked). The DVI-Monitor is attached to the hdmi-out of the macbook.

So far I think it is absolutely awesome you got the retina display enabled at all and even so fast. Also I think this is a pretty tough bug, even internal apps glitch from time to time, especially when being stretched over two screens. Maybe there could just be a fallback when a second screen is attached.

thank you

Ton, more fun for you! :)

I can investigate if there's API to detect such cases.

Blender can be started in non-retina mode simply by right click on the blender.app icon, Info -> open low resolution. It stores that setting.

I've hooked up a 2nd screen to my mac, and it's quite fun that things already work so well!

I found the apple documentation how to handle multiple screens for this case, and added support for it in svn.
How, the high-dpi mode is handled per window independently, and on moving to other screen it refreshes accordingly.

The refresh is quite radical for Blender, so you'll notice a short glitch in buttons when you move over. But all very acceptable.

Thanks for the report, happy blendering!
