No alpha calculated for Blender Internal Render
Closed, ArchivedPublic

Description

--- Operating System, Graphics card ---
Multiple systems, Windows 7 64 bit

--- Blender version with error, and version that worked ---
r53999 and later is where I have noticed the error. Do not know where this started, but r52864 is correct.

--- Short description of error ---
No alpha is being rendered in Blender Internal render. RGB and RGBA give the same result (no alpha channel)

--- Steps for others to reproduce the error (preferably based on attached .blend file) ---
No .blend needed. Load default cube, render with blender Internal with RGBA checked. There will be no alpha.

Event Timeline

This was an intentional change, read here for more details:
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Ref/Release_Notes/2.66/Image_Transparency

Previously you could save this way with an alpha channel, but the result would in fact give some incorrect color fringing on edges if you didn't also set the shading alpha option, which is now required to be set.
