Magic trackpad pan is recognised as mouse wheel up/down
Closed, ArchivedPublic

Description

Relates to: T33185

OSX 10.82
Mac Pro early 2008 (MacPro3,1) with Magic trackpad
Official Blender 2.65a, standard input-seetings

The trackpad pan does not function as a move but is being interpreted as a zoom. The pan gesture (horizontal and vertical) on the trackpad is being recognised as "mouse wheel up / wheel down". When I activate the touch featue on my bamboo tablet, I observe the same behaviour.

When I connect the trackpad to my Macbook Pro (OSX 10.68, Official Blender 2.65a, standard input settings) the pan-funcion works as expected.

It's the same problem as reported in bug #33185. It is probably not fixed for the hardware/OS combination I use.

Thanks,

There were fixes after 2.65a, did you try using blender 2.66 testbuild (you could them here http://download.blender.org/release/Blender2.66/)?

Hi Sergey,

I tried the 2.66 testbuild with succes. Blender recognises the gestures with my hardware setup.
The only difference with previous settings is, that 'View rotate' is the default now. For 'View pan' I have to use the shift-key.
That's easely reconfigured but I just wonder if 'View pan' should not be the default.

Thanks for your quick respons,

Wim den Boer

Both defaults make sense, so I picked rotate to follow how we map MiddleMouse as default.

Rotate is for 3d viewing a bit more useful imho, especially for modeling, sculpting, 3d painting, etc.

Ton Roosendaal (ton) changed the task status from Unknown Status to Archived.Feb 7 2013, 11:37 AM

Hi Ton,

Thanks for explaining. I'm happy with any default since it can be changed easily.
I'll follow my muscle memory :-)
