Plane with Alpha-Textur does not render correct inside a smoke-domain
Closed, ArchivedPublic

Description

Win7 64BIT
Blender 2.66

Hi! Im making a smoke-simulation where a plane with texture is inside the domain-box.
When i use a texture with alpha-chanal the smoke behind this plane will not render.
When i move the plane outside the domain, the smoke behind is rendered correctly.

This means: AlphaChanel inside a domain-object does not render.

As i can see, this only happens with Z-Transparency! Using RayTracing works. SORRY!

Using RayTracing the main-background is not rendered correctly- check it with a gradient as background!

In Blender, ztransp, volumes, solid faces, halos, sky, strands, ... is all rendered separately and combined *after* it was done. The default way it combines you cannot control, that's why we allow users to set this to individual render layers so you can composite it together.

Dear Ton,

i checked this.
Used two different layers and combined them in different ways in the compositing nodes.
Ive tryed MIX, Alpha- and Z-combine. Tryed different combinations of on/off switched layers.

Using Layers doe not help!

I found out that the "Paper Sky"-Option in the world settings caused this problem using RayTransp!
Disabling it, and averything is rendered well!

Just the ZTransp-Option does only work outside of a adaptive domain.
Beween the DomainBox and the AdaptivDomainBox is okay, too ;).

The bad thing is, that transparent parts of an alpha texture can only be displayed in the 3d-view while ztransp is enabled.
