GLSL display mode make Blender crashes if rendering a scene
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

--- Operating System, Graphics card ---

Imacs with Nvidia 680MX 2gb or Ati 4850HD 512mb, MacBookPro retina with Nvidia 650M 512mb, both on OSX 10.8.4
Laptop ASUS with Nvidia 555M 2gb with Windows 7 64bits

--- Blender version with error, and version that worked ---

version with crash: from 2.5x to 2.67b official (r57123M)
version that works: well, as far as I remember, that crash doesn't appear in 2.4x versions.

--- Short description of error ---

When using GLSL textured display mode in the 3D view, I just do a render of the scene. When the render is done, I just go back to the 3D view and then blender crashes.

--- Steps for others to reproduce the error (preferably based on attached .blend file) ---

Please, use this link to download the file (Dropbox, 190.43 Mo): https://www.dropbox.com/s/b0bhezcleuw0w7n/scene_013_crash.blend.zip

Textures are packed into the file. This is the only file I can provide that shows the bug. I tried to make a lighter/cleaner one, by appending the objects in a new blend file, without rigs, but then it just works fine. The problem is that it is useless in production.

All you have to do is to set the 3D view in GLSL textured mode (Alt+Z) and then do a render (Blender Internal, with option 'image editor'). When the render is over, just go back to the 3D view by pressing Esc and then Blender should quit.

I just tested with the r57660 build for OSX 64 bits from the daily build page and no crashes appears. Maybe the problem as been identified and fixed.

We indeed just fixed this particular bug. It happens when Free Image Textures is enabled in the Performance panel.

Thanks for the report, closing.

I just tested with official 2.67b build (r57123M), with Free Image Textures disabled, and yes, no crash happens. I never tried that option to see if that caused the bug.

Also, I deleted the file from my Dropbox, so the link doesn't work anymore.
