Link materials (Ctrl+L > Materials) does not update rendered view correctly, old materials are still shown.
When using cycles it is only necessary to rotate the view slightly to make the scene update with correct materials.
When using Blender internal, the material does not update when rotating. Leaving and entering rendered view updates correctly.
Changing materials manually works as expected both in cycles and internal with a material update straight away.

Make two objects with different materials
Activate rendered view (cycles or internal)
Select both objects and press ctrl+L choose materials
Both objects should have same material, but they don't.
