Event Timeline

This is not really a bug, in that in current code it is intended to not use the sequencer when it does not contains graphical data. Note you can export audio soundtrack through the "Mixdown" button (Scene buttons, Audio panel).

Anyway, since we allow pure-audio format in "general" render encoding settings, we should remove this behavior, but we avoid such changes just before a release, so it will have to wait for after 2.69. :)

Hi Bastien,

The process we are using is to create a sequencer with audio and video..... but as the video takes a while to export out 1000's of frames with multiple layers of both visual and audio... we tend to push this out over multiple machines rendering to jpgs, and then render just the audio only from the sequencer, then combining them together with ffmpeg externally...

There is a way of exporting out a mp3 directly from the sequencer, that is to just hide all the strips from the sequencer... I had a look at the mixdown option in the audio settings... Shouldnt this mixdown option should sit under render settings like baking does (for blender internal atleast)... also this would remove current functionality as I am able to export directly to MP3 yet this mixdown doesnt seem to have that option?

Is there a reason why this is not the intended use?

Hi Carlo,

Yep, we talked a bit about this with Sergey and Campbell yesterday, this needs cleanup for sure. Thus it will have to wait for after 2.69. ;)

Note though you should be able to export to mp3 with Mixdown (at least I do have the option, among others)…

Hi Bastien,

Sorry for the late reply... Just saw your post on the Blender Commiters Mailing List about this, and rechecked in.

Anyway there is no mp3 option for the audio mixdown... I am running a windows 7 x64 build straight from buildbot. There are only 3 options, flac, wav and ogg.

Carlo

No seeing more means that blender got built without ffmpeg enabled, so the plattform maintainer who creates the builds has to be poked in this case.

@Joerg... Unless there are two FFMPEG tags to enable... ffmpeg is enabled on the windows buildbot that i am using, as i can export directly to h264 / mp3 / wav etc.etc. through the main render options... the missing options are only under audio mixdown.

Carlo: That should be fixed with revision 61188, so try a build with at least this revision please.

Bastien: I'm changing the assignment to me, otherwise I don't get e-mail notifications :-/ Regarding the UI change see the mailing list. ;-)

Joerg Mueller (nexyon) changed the task status from Unknown Status to Resolved.Nov 7 2013, 1:36 PM

Done, thx. :)

PS: monitoring the thread should be enough to get mails on every change???

Thanks everyone! I will test it out when the new buildbot uploads it.
