Network Render with smoke simulation renders wrong physics on linux machines
Closed, ArchivedPublic

Description

--- Operating System, Graphics card ---
Machine 1: Windows 8
Machine 2: ubuntu Linux 3.11.0-8-generic i686 i686

--- Blender version with error, and version that worked ---
Fails with : windows: r58536 and linux: r58536 (and r60316 too)

Not aware of a version that worked, as I've only just tried to do this.

--- Short description of error ---
When rendering a smoke simulation using the network render across two machines, one windows, one linux, the linux machine sends back what looks like the rendered smoke from the first 5 frames each time. The windows machine sends back the correct results.

--- Steps for others to reproduce the error (preferably based on attached .blend file) ---
Run a master and slave on windows machine for the network render.
Run a slave on linux machine for network render.
Using the attached file on a windows machine, switch to physics, Free Bake, then Bake (to create the physics cache).
Switch back to render panels.
Click Animation on network.

When finished use Ctrl-F11 to play animation, or look at the output files in smoke directory.
All frames rendered on linux come out the same each time. Just repeats of the first 5.

However if I try rendering the file on a client on the network renderer from the linux machine instead of the windows machine it seems to work OK.

I've also tried using 3 machines. One linux and two windows. Both windows ones render correctly, and the linux one incorrectly, when the client is from windows.
