Collada files crashing Blender (origin may be from Maya)
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

--- Operating System, Graphics card ---
Mac OS 10.8.5, 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB ram, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB

--- Blender version with error, and version that worked ---
blender-2.68-r60447-OSX-10.6-x86_64 / Blender 2.68a

--- Short description of error ---
Certain DAE files are crashing Blender. The person who created them works in Maya, so I believe that is their origin. We have often seen problems importing certain files from Maya, but not outright crashing. The files work if opened with Blender 2.68a. Any of the latest builds above that, crash. I have been working with Gaia Clary and she is able to open them, so we think it is OSX related.

--- Steps for others to reproduce the error (preferably based on attached .blend file) ---

1. Open File
2. Crashes almost instantaneously.

Blend file and crash report are attached. Please note that for me to distribute the Collada file, I must declare that the creator is Damien Fate.

Event Timeline

Cannot reproduce it either here (Debian64 testing).

@Gaia: I think OSX libs are still 828b60384552b83e55d2af7055f07d2c40b4d3f4, while we are supposed to use 18da7f4109a8eafaa290a33f5550501cc4c8bae8 now afaik, maybe that’s the issue?

yes, this was fixed in OpenCollada comit 18da7f4109a8eafaa290a33f5550501cc4c8bae8 (see email on bf-committers from 16-september-2013) . Although i wonder why on OSX Blender crashes. On windows it just did not import the weights... However, just update OSX to the commit and all should be well.

Fixed by rebuilding the newest collada libraries.

Your reported issue has been fixed in SVN. Thanks for taking the
