More descriptive tooltips for freestyles settings

Description

We had a conversation on FB about FS in general.
Involve a big number of freestyle users.
We had tons of feedback.
We found out few tooltips in need of urgent fix.
I also include suggested tooltips.

They are

  1. Edge types:
    • silhouette (select outer contour & inner closed mesh edges with depth differences),
    • border (select open mesh edges),
    • crease (select edges by minimal face angle set by crease angle),
    • edge mark (select marked edges),
    • contour (select outer edges of each object),
    • external contour (select external edges of a group of object),
    • suggestive contour (select almost silhouette/contour edges)
    • ridge and valley (select edges when faces direction change from concave to convex)
  1. Face mark (//don't use "negation operation" here)
    • Inclusive (include marked faces to edge detection)
    • Exclusive (exclude marked faces to edge detection)
  1. Group (//don't use "negation operation" here)
    • Inclusive (include object group to edge detection)
    • Exclusive (exclude object group to edge detection)
  1. Line style > Thickness > Position
    • Inside (move edge inside for outer edge types when chaining enabled with type plain & same object activated)
    • Outside (Move edge toward outside for outer edge types when chaining enabled with type plain & same object activated)
    • Relative (relative position for outer edges when chaining enabled with type plain & same object activated)

Some good suggestions here. I've got a few more problematic tooltips:

Face mark

currently

  • One Face Select feature edges if one of faces on the right and left has a face mark
  • Both Faces Select feature edges if both faces on the right and left faces have a face mark

my suggestion

  • One Face Select a feature edge if either of its adjacent faces is marked (or: has a face mark)
  • Both Faces Select a feature edge if both of its adjacent faces are marked (or: have a face mark)

Line style > Strokes

  • Chaining > Method (Chaining method) (or: method of jointing edges)
  • Caps (Shape of the stroke's ends)

Line style > Alpha

  • Alpha (Alpha transparency of the stroke) (following material transparency)
Tamito Kajiyama (kjym3) changed the task status from Unknown Status to Resolved.Apr 24 2014, 4:46 PM

Thank you all for nice suggestions.
Please, feel free to reopen the task when you find any other tool tips to revise.
