Subsurfed objects show up black in edit mode view. Object mode displays correct.

Hi "no such problems on ubuntu 5.10 x86" so might be powerpc specific assigning to linux ppc guru...

It does look similar in to the screenshot on an ibook G4 (radeon mobility 9200, Debian unstable, Blender 2.37 and 2.41).
I don't see this on the ibook G3 (Rage 128 graphics, Ubuntu Hoary, Blender 2.36), so this might be a radeon specific problem.

This applies only to non smoothed faces, se example (top of cube "set solid").

Anders: this is 99.9% sure an opengl issue, the nth issue we got with some ATI configurations.
I can only advise to try other drivers (from ATI themselves?) or downgrade...

This is a generic request to test your bug report and see if it is still an issue in 2.5alpha2 if so please let me know by making a comment in this report ie 'also in 2.5alpha2' and I will add it to the 2.5 bug list.
