Blender crashes on rendering a project
Closed, ArchivedPublicKNOWN ISSUE

Description

Once I try to render the attached project (press the RENDER button), Blender crashes with the error message:

Blender:Render:blender.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x690c7e9e" referenced memory at "0x00000060". The memory could not be "read".

I am using Blender 2.41 on Windows 2000 service pack 4. The video card is
ATI Rage 128 Pro TF.

Hi,

tested on windows xp, both 2.41 and current CVS and cannot repeat it.

Cannot redo this either... (2.41 in OSX). There's a chance it's because of the graphics card (drivers). It would help if you can do further testing like;
- just open blender and press "render"
- if that works, disable features in the gus file (shadow, osa, etc) to find which of the features causes crash
- or if any render crashes, check opengl settings of your system, try to disable opengl accelleration altogether? Update drivers?
- try the same on another system you have access to

Well, it looks like it's because of the graphics card, because on my system
Blender doesn't render *anything*. Playing with OpenGL settings does not
seem to help, so I think I'll try another graphics card.

Sorry for raising a false alarm.

Regards,

Cyril

Well, I know issues with ATI cards, but usually you can get it to work pretty well. Check at least the ATI website for driver upgrades?

This is a generic request to test your bug report and see if it is still an issue in 2.5alpha2 if so please let me know by making a comment in this report ie 'also in 2.5alpha2' and I will add it to the 2.5 bug list.
