Broken: 2.71
Short description of error
2.71 Does not open in Window XP 64bit version.
Can not even see splash screen.
Older version work.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Install or download the zip onto the computer and exe blender and it will fail.
I thought we no longer support Win XP?

try installing latest MSCV C++ redistributable dll ?

Also, please run Blender from the command line and report here what's printed.
@Fable Fox (fablefox) Maybe it might not be supported anymore by the open source community,
but I am forced to use XP as my workstation.
Also tried to instal the latest MSCV C++ and it didn't work either.
@Bastien Montagne (mont29) does not work even in the command line.
I did load up from the zip a 32bit version of 2.71 it works.
If XP is no longer supported I will use the 2.70 64bit or a 32bit version or in the future whatever is currently usable.
@Tim Klanderud (klanderud) For now, XP is still supported, though we aim at dropping it soonish (hard to maintain compatibility with something that is something like 13 years old now!
And if I asked you to run Blender from command line, it was to get the messages printed in that command line. ;)
We don't support XP x64, only 32 edition still. x64 even back then had a market share of <5%.
So I suggest to use the x32 binary.
