Short description of error
Not so much a bug, rather an minor oversight?
While using a shallow depth of field, it is possible to select the active camera from a list of focal point objects, providing a completely out of focus image.

Removing the active camera from the list of available objects may help someone in the future by preventing confusion if the wrong object is mistakenly selected.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open Cameras focus point can be set to itself.blend
Begin Viewport render (Shift Z)
In the Camera tab, under Focus, switch between 'Cube' and 'Camera'

Thank you,

David

Just don't do this ;)

i'ts not trivial to detect what "itself" is in this context -- you can have multiple camera objects sharing the same camera datablock.

Thanks for the report, it's something which could be potentially improved but it's not a bug really.

Thanks Sergey for making me smile and for your feedback. In reply, I do not intend too but someone may by mistake. :)

Know you are extremely clever, so apologies in advance for the following simplistic overview. Could one solution be to replicate the real world. Imagine holding a camera parallel to a mirror, camera's selected focal point would be the cameras front lens element rather than sensor plane? Only exception, (excluding major camera faults :) ), if the camera back/front focused or the camera was manually focused at a point representing the sensor plane.

Have a great weekend,
