Short description of error
On launch, it immediately shows the "Blender quit unexpectedly." dialogue. It happens even after removing the 2.72 folder from Application support or resetting to factory settings. The release candidate still works fine. Stack trace attached.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on a (as simple as possible) attached .blend file with minimum amount of steps

  1. Double-click the application icon
  2. Profit!

Hi
I checked over with my MAcPro 2009 hexacore + amd 7970
ProductName: Mac OS X
ProductVersion: 10.10
BuildVersion: 14A379a

..so basically the same Blender and OS version.
All works fine here.

The stacktrace is unfortunately saying nothing ( not a true debug log ).

I assume you have updated to 10.10GM1 in between rc1 and release? Or was the sys perfectly
the same ?
The truth is i don't like the shape of 10.10 atm. for any serious testing. GM1 has some regressions
which makes me hope thats not really a GM ;)

Please clarify my questions and be aware this van be also a 10.10 problem which only occures on the MacBucket.
In any case 10.10 is not to be considered stable and i propose not to use it for production yet.

Sergey Sharybin (sergey) triaged this task as 30 priority.Dec 26 2014, 11:19 AM

@Jeff LaMarche (jlamarche), please test latets 2.73rc1 build from http://download.blender.org/release/Blender2.73/ on latest 10.10 update and see if the issue still exists.

@jens verwiebe (jensverwiebe), is 10.10 considered stable for blender nowadays?

@Sergey Sharybin (sergey): OSX 10.10.1 is okay so far, i just don't recoomed to use intermediate betas for upcoming updates,
due i won't test them anymore until they are officially out ( remember the 10.10.2 trackpad bug in dev build ).

I still cannot get this crash, perhaps cause i don't use ICloud etc..
I encourage Jeff to test switching iCloud off in finder for a test.

Bug is in sytem read bookmarks somehow, but no idea from this log
what exactly crashes here. Check also 1.73rc while i lookup what may have changed
between 2.72 rc and final.

But again: !!! the log says: 2.70 (2.70, 2014-Mar-19, Blender Foundation)
which was definitely not adapted to OSX 10.10 at this point !!!

jens verwiebe (jensverwiebe) changed the task status from Unknown Status to Archived.Dec 30 2014, 4:40 PM

As we get no answer here if it is perhaps an iCloud problem or just
too old Blender was used, closing this now as invalid.
