How to handle scale with FBX export (presets?)
Closed, ArchivedPublicDESIGN

Description

I don't know if this is a bug...
But when I set the scale to "Meters" and export my file, its quite tiny in Unreal. The scale is not adopted at all...

Unity seems to be the same. But I don't know if this is a bug or an export problem... (Maya and Unity doesn't like each other, too :D)

Best regards,
Martin

Renamed and set as a design issue,

I think we may need to:

  • Have presets for different applications.
  • Add the ability to set a preset as Default

This way users can set an engine as default, or make their own presets.

About FBX and scales, tbh I’m still waiting for a clear test file (with a mere cube e.g.), showing what a reference app (like max?) generates for a centimeter scale, a meter scale, etc. In other words, reference material - because FBX 'doc' about this is really too much... fuzzy. As far as I know, FBX has centimeter as default unit, so I tried to stick to that, but...

Bastien Montagne (mont29) triaged this task as 30 priority.Dec 1 2014, 8:11 PM
Antonis Ryakiotakis (psy-fi) changed the task status from Unknown Status to Archived.Dec 11 2014, 4:12 PM

No response within a week, and too fuzzy, closing.
