Closed, ArchivedPublic

Description

System Information
Win7. Radon HD 7800

Blender Version
Broken: (2.72 900e3ea, and current version)

Short description of error
I am having a problem with undo. First I thought that it was because of installing addons. Now I have some projects like this one (Schepje where undo is broken. If I create a new scene, reset to factory settings and append the objects, everything works again. Problem is, that it gets broken during modeling as well. Undo history is blank than.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Move object and try t undo the change.

Hey there,
So first, I don't think we have a bug with the undo system here. Undo of such small changes is vital and I guess we would've gotten much more reports if so. So let's try a couple of things:

  • Test with the latest build from buildbot
  • The commit number rB900e3eacd7 (the Blender version you pointed to in the report) points to a gooseberry commit - Make sure you're testing with master, not with the gooseberry branch (we decided to not allow gooseberry only bugs in our tracker)
  • Toggeling between object and edit mode has a big influence on the undo system - does it "break" after toggeling?
  • alt + shift changes the keybord layout - I often times press this accidently when I want to change to fullscreen mode (shift + spacebar) - the german keyboard layout for example has the y and the z swapped, so make sure this isn't the root of the problem

Okay, I think this is enough homework for now ;P

Thanks for the report @daniel Cremers (danicrem)

  1. This is exactly what I have downloaded. The goosberry build.
  2. I had the same problem with the official release.
  3. I have the problem right after opening the scene. I tobbe a lot between object mode and edit mode. But I hope such a vital thing does not skrew up blender
  4. One of the addons I installed was rotate constraintrained rotate-constrained. It uses shift+ctrl+r. After that I had some problems with teh undo system. The attached scene (first post) has this addon disabled and still it does not work.

I tired moving objects from your file in current master's build, and had absolutely no problem with undo/redo. Please try with a Blender started in 'factory settings' mode (--factory-startup command line option), disabling an addon won't always restore your Blender completely, if the addon is not well-written.

Also, next time, please report exact precise steps to reproduce the issue, and precise description of the issue. And always only report after testing with latest builds from master, gooseberry builds are considered experimental.

Thanks for the report, but closing it for now, we can always reopen if you give us more info - and can prove it's not caused by some dummy addon messing with shortcuts. ;)
