Event Timeline

There's in no attached scratch.blend file tho.

I've noticed quite heavy calculations in the scene update handler which is registered by this addon. IMO, that would be totally valid to skip those calculations when doing rendering.

Julian Eisel (Severin) lowered the priority of this task from 90 to 30.Dec 23 2014, 6:37 AM

@Julian Eisel (Severin), even tho the file is missing it is possible to solve loads of slowdown using the suggestion above. It'll likely solve issue with that particular file.

Sergey Sharybin (sergey) raised the priority of this task from 30 to Normal.Dec 23 2014, 7:01 AM

Hmm... sorry about that - I thought I dragged the file into the comment window as instructed. I did notice the problem did not happen with just the default cube though. My test file is from Lynda.com physics tutorial, fwiw.

...I'm seeing a progress window :)

hi,
There are a few fixes to apply to this addon.
Register/Unregister, lack of on/off button in ui & the render issue described above.
I will have a look at these very soon.
This could also be an issue for all bgl addons as I found similar cpu eat issue with another yesterday.
So there is also the option of adding warning to turn off during rendering or auto-disable if render is
If I'm unable to fix the addon, there will be no choice but to remove it from Release.

Brendon Murphy (meta-androcto) changed the task status from Unknown Status to Resolved.May 24 2015, 12:53 PM

hi, this addon is badly broken & has been for a considerable time.
Removing from Release & demoting to contrib until closer to next release.
At which time if it is still not fixed, it will be removed from contrib addons also.

Closing this report.
