When i select a vertex group from the vertex group list in the Mesh Data properties of an Object,
then i can see the associated weights on the mesh.
But when i also have this mesh bound to an armature and when that armature is in pose mode,
then i see an inconsistent information:
On the image above it is impossible to tell if the weight group contains wrong weights or if its just because i have selected the weight group in the vertex groups list.
So i propose to let the pose bone selection get adjusted to what i select on the vertex group.
- One solution could be to just to propagate a selection on the vgroup list to the corresponding pose bone select(if bone exists). This could be accompanied with a synch button that actually enables the propagation (see example below)
- One other solution could be to add another column to the vgroup widget where i can change the bone selection.
Here is a mockup where i have added both ideas in one image:
- Alternative 1: By clicking in the list widget i can select multiple bones (selection indicated by the white arrow)
- Alternative 2: By clicking the small bone on the lower left corner i can force select synchronization with the Pose bones
Of course i am aware that this can be made better (ideas welcome). However if this is all not applicable, could someone please give a brief explanation why that is a bad idea.
thanks
