Using arrow keys to navigate in file browser does not scroll
Closed, ArchivedPublic

Description

System Information
W8.1 64-bit, GT650M

Blender Version
Broken: 2.76RC1 c586e30
Worked: n/a

Short description of error
When navigating with arrows in the "new" file browser, the browser does not scroll to the selected element if it is out of the screen viewing range.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • open file browser and navigate to a folder where there are so many elements to view that it required scrolling (easily achieved with the large thumbnail preview)
  • use the arrow keys to navigate to a file that is outside of the view range
  • the browser does not scroll to the selected file, making it hard to know which file is selected...

I agree that this is a bit annoying and I originally wanted to implement it after arrow key navigation was in, but didn't do it to avoid more merge conflicts with the file browser rewrite that was going on. Anyway... this is not a bug, more of a todo or feature request, which we don't allow in our bug tracker for the sake of organization. You can be sure it will come soon though ;)

Thanks for the report nevertheless.

Ah that makes sense, thanks for the feedback!
Anyways from a user perspective you have made a truly impressive work with the browser, I'll be looking out for the next improvements!

Update: Committed rBd7e88fe1fd46, so it should now do what you requested :)
