Blender UI turns crazy when object selected...
Closed, ArchivedPublicKNOWN ISSUE

Description

Hi there,

I want to notify an annoying problem when I'm using Blender on my laptop.
When I try to select a different object than the active one, the Blender ui turns crazy (see the attachment). After a few mouse moves, the program crashes and a segfault message is generated:

/usr/bin/blender: line 46: 13598 Segfault blender-bin $@

So, surprisingly, the only way to choose the different elements from the scene is via Outliner.

I know that there are many problems with mesa drivers supporting ATI Cards like Mobility Radeon IGP 350 (my graphic chipset). In any case, I've decided to report the problem.

I'm runing Blender under Ubuntu 6.06 on a HP nx9010 laptop.

Thanks for reading :)

Yeah, sorry to see this bad error... first of all you should really try one of the release candidates (check article on blender.org frontpage). Then you could try different drivers or settings for drivers.

In general, ATI cards can get to work with Blender pretty OK. (btw, try the official ATI linux drivers too)

The problem persists even with the latest RC3 release. Tried to install ati official drivers but doesn't want to work on my system (maybe ati doesn't support any longer those cards...)

Looking for other drivers... (DRI updates...).

Anyway, thanks for your time Ton.

This is a generic request to test your bug report and see if it is still an issue in 2.5alpha2 if so please let me know by making a comment in this report ie 'also in 2.5alpha2' and I will add it to the 2.5 bug list.
