Crash when attempting to select the other tip of a bone
Closed, ArchivedPublicKNOWN ISSUE

Description

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new file
2. Delete any objects set to appear in new files.
3. Create an armature object at the default coordinates.
4. When it appears, the tip point of the bone should be selected.
5. Attempt to select the base point of the bone.

Error:
After attempting to select the base point, a message appears (Windows XP) indicating that blender.exe has encountered a problem and must shut down. It also provides the standard Windows XP procedures for submitting an error report.

OS: Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2
3D Card: None (uses VIA/S3G UniChrome IGP display adaptor)
Blender version 2.42

NOTE: After this had occurred consistently several times, I decided to submit the error report Windows XP offers.

This is an issue with S3 video cards or drivers... these are really not meant for OpenGL tools.
The reason is it doesn't support opengl selection for circle drawing (or display lists)... a very common and basic call, something we cannot replace from Blender.

We can only hope some developer with similar 3d card finds a bypass for it, or S3 upgrading drivers...

This is a generic request to test your bug report and see if it is still an issue in 2.5alpha2 if so please let me know by making a comment in this report ie 'also in 2.5alpha2' and I will add it to the 2.5 bug list.
