selecting armature in pose mode makes Blender crash
Closed, ArchivedPublicKNOWN ISSUE

Description

OS: Windows XP AND Linux UBUNTU
Display adapters: VIA/S3G Unichrome Pro IGP
Blender Versuin: 2.42

The bug is very easy to reproduce in a new Blender project:

In object mode : add an armature
In pose mode : try to select the armature center with RMB

it systematically crashes, in both Windows or Linux.

Sometimes it crashes as I try to select a bone as well.

Thanks
Tom

Blender uses a OpenGL 1.0 standard glSelectBuffer() method, which unfortunately isn't well supported by the cheaper 3d cards. Please note that S3 is notorious for bad OpenGL support in general. Playback of 3d games doesn't mean it works for 3d creation tools well...

I doubt S3 will ever fix this. So we either drop this from our code, or find a developer with a similar card who can find us a bypass patch.

This is a generic request to test your bug report and see if it is still an issue in 2.5alpha2 if so please let me know by making a comment in this report ie 'also in 2.5alpha2' and I will add it to the 2.5 bug list.
