Short description of error
Scaling lots of submeshes with "individual origins" pivot point makes blender unresponsive. I haven't figured out how many submeshes are required to hang blender, but attached file is big enough.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • open attached file
  • turn on edit mode
  • select all faces
  • change pivot to individual origins
  • try to scale with "s"

I waited little longer and got window response, but when I copy that mesh, join and then scale blender hangs for good.

Seriously… you have over 250k faces, and afaics four faces per island, which makes over 60000 midpoints to compute, and then to handle at each step of transformation… What do you expect? Your PC is not a super computer (and this process is not threaded in blender anyway)…

I reported this as I've tested same thing in 3dsmax and works ok. Thank you anyway for explanation.
