Basically, for the past week or so, I've been struggling with trying to use a shape key to fix the problem of a mesh cage not containing the leg geometry of my model. Visual aide:

It was frustrating because I found the shape key fix to be working in any other tests.

Anyways, long story short, I figured out that somehow the specific "Mesh Deform" modifier on my mesh was bugged.
In the end, just deleting it and creating a new instance of the modifier solves the problem.

Problem is that I don't know what caused it to become buggy, so no steps to replicate here.
However, I do have the buggy file, so I'm attaching it in hopes that it'll help in figuring out what went wrong:

Bah, took me some time to find it… You have the 'dynamic bind' option enabled in your meshdeform modifier, which means binding is recomputed everytime (and hence, your 'shapekey' trick is useless). No bug at all here. :)

Well, that's embarrassing.. I thought I checked for that when doing the tests. Sorry for wasting your time, but thanks for checking it out!
