Workspace window full of colored snow zigzags on Mac Pro
Closed, ArchivedPublicKNOWN ISSUE

Description

When I start Blender on Mac Pro, I get garbled display, like zigzags of colored snow everywhere in workspace.

Mac Pro, 2x 2.66 and 2gig ram nVidia 7300

I took a screen grab.

p.s.: Blender works ok on my other Intel Imac.

What is that "mac pro", the new apple workstation? Pretty cool stuff... but apparently they released it with a corrupted nvidia driver (again!).

Since its a local problem (and you're the first to report) I can only advise you to check on a whole lot of different settings. At least visit nvidia.com to see if they have driver upgrades. Maybe nvidia has a tool to set opengl profiles for programs? Also try to set the display on '1000s of colors'.

I'm using a Mac dual G5 and a macbook (intel) pro, but both have ATIs.

I've had two reports already, and no feedback on what is wrong here...
Here's a checklist:

Give me as much information possible... like:
- is there no way to get blender drawing properly? (try everything! including switching to 1000s of colors, opening blender small, use the full-window button and go back, resize window, etc etc)
- make sure you have a totally standard setup (1 monitor, regular screen sizes, etc)
- check on the nvidia site if theres a driver upgrade
- also on nvidia site: load a program to set opengl profiles per-application. (no idea what it is called).
then check on all options in this program. there must be something!

After that:
- load the sources and get Blender compiled. (check if that fixes it!)
- join irc.freenode.net channel #blendercoders, and see if someone can help out.
(when I am online, i'll give it a try too, usually I am there in CET afternoon time)

This is a generic request to test your bug report and see if it is still an issue in 2.5alpha2 if so please let me know by making a comment in this report ie 'also in 2.5alpha2' and I will add it to the 2.5 bug list.
