Traceback error on exporting to .fbx

Windows 10, Nvidia GTX 650

Blender Version 2.78

Fail on exporting as .fbx, and makes Unreal Crashes if i export it as .obj

It's just a simple house, my first try modelling something, followed a youtube video steps

Confirming the issue.

line 1127, in fbx_data_mesh_elements
    def_mat = blmats_to_fbxmats_idxs[0]
IndexError: list index out of range

In the file the exact mesh that causes the error is the ground plane. It has two materials both of them linked to object, one is used (the green one - the other isn't).

To recreate the issue with the default scene:
default cube> add empty slot > set the link to object> add new material > add empty slot (the link now is object)> add new material > export to fbx

Seems that the case when the materials are linked to object and some of them are unused / not applied to the geometry triggers the error.
