Short description of error
When creating single user copy of text object blender crashes aka Segmentation fault.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. switch to scene "11_PlaceMoverOnMap"
  2. make text object "TwoLineText.013" single copy
  3. crash

Can confirm the issue in 2.78a but not in the latest builds. There were lots of fixes after 2.78a release, so odds that this issue was already fixed.

Please check whether builds from builder.blender.org works and if not report back here. For until then considering the issue solved.
