Short description of error
Blender Crashes when switching to Cycles.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Blender closes without warning when switching to Cycles. This also happens when selecting the system tab in the user-preferences. I have re-installed blender twice and tried the zipped version but the exact same problems still occur. To my knowledge all drivers are up to date.

Event Timeline

Try latest Blender version https://builder.blender.org/download/

I have crash when rendering the scene second time after I previewed the scene in viewport shading-Rendered.
First time render is fine.

It seams it's driver issue so we have to wait for new drivers.

Just tried a couple of different versions and exact same happens. The weird thing is that on my older computer which has the exact same graphic card, Blender (2.78a) doesn't crash.

Try updating your GPU driver or using the same version that is on your other computer.

Sounds like a video driver issue.
Which driver are you using?
Can you try an older/newer version?

I am using the most recent driver as far I can tell, where would look for the latest driver.

Latest driver is 16.12.2. We have to wait for new drivers.

Great. No good replies, same problem. Drivers have updated twice, still crashing. Good job dev team!

It's driver related issue with open cl and kernel memory.
