NDOF Device configuration

Description

System Information
3D Connexion Space Mouse
Windows 10

Blender Version
Blender v2.79

Short description of error
All selected options in the Windows 3Dconnexion configurator will be ignored.

Activation and / or inversion off the 6 axes can not be controlled

Desire
I need to invert all axes on the Space Mouse to move the objects logical (not move the user)
This is possible in the blender configurator of the 3Dconnexion window but will not be recognized

Event Timeline

Please provide clear steps reproducing the issue, from the description it's not clear at all. Also, what is the "blender configurator of the 3Dconnexion window"?

Vuk Gardašević (lijenstina) changed the task status from Unknown Status to Unknown Status.Dec 14 2017, 2:11 PM

More than a week passed without a reply.

Due to the tracker policy, archiving until the required additional information / data is provided.

There are no steps to do for reproducing my problem. Any configuration in 3Dconnexion are ignored:

Especially activity, speed and inversion of axis are ignored.
It seems that blender is not reading the output of this configuration.
3Dconnexion creates for each application a separate config and switches between them according on app focus.
If blender uses his own config for the spacenavigator, i need a function to invert each axis.

Vuk Gardašević (lijenstina) raised the priority of this task from 30 to 90.

Some additional information was given, setting up to Needs Triage.

Not sure how this should be supported from the Blender side?

@Mike Erwin (merwin) is this something that can be looked into? Thanks.

As far as I know we bypass these settings, so it's not a bug (not using Win32, so not entirely sure of this).

I think that's probably right Campbell. I normally access the config within Blender via the L button on the 3dconnexion, for a quick access menu. Not sure if this relates, but within Orbit mode, inverting the Z axis doesn't work.

That said I've been thinking recently of maybe trying to sponsor a (hopefully minor) polish on the NDOF interaction as it could use a couple of tweaks... It's such a useful device for texture painting/sculpting particularly. Will get back to you on that.

Closing this issue because it's not an error with ndof support, more of a possible improvement.
